As Consultant in Public Health in Reading you will work across the three domains of public health to assure healthcare, improve and protect the health and wellbeing of residents in line with the Council’s vision, goals and objectives, helping us to meetthe challenges associated with the Covid 19 pandemic, whilst delivering our vision for a healthy Reading, working through intelligence to tackle pre-existing health inequalities and those exacerbated by Covid, narrow the gap in health outcomes, preventingavoidable ill-health and premature mortality and driving change through the wider determinants of health, offering the public health approach across all council and partner services to build safe, resilient, connected communities.

You will be part of an extended public health offer working as a key part of the innovative Berkshire West Public Health arrangement, alongside the Director of Public Health for Berkshire West, with a unique opportunity to work with colleagues in neighbouringauthorities across Berkshire West, whilst providing local public health leadership in Reading.

This is a broad, exciting and innovative role that will draw on all of your public health skills and offers an ambitious Public Health professional the opportunity to make a real impact, where your personal and professional growth matters, progressing yourcareer to the next level. We are looking for a dynamic leader, with proven experience of system and partnership working, a proven track record of making an impact and delivering public health outcomes and the successful pursuit of innovative change.

In line with legislation, inclusion in the GMC Full and Specialist Register with a license to practice/GDC Specialist List (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview) or Inclusion in the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public HealthSpecialists (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview) is required for this post.
