**Background**

Local Village Network is a grassroots charity set up to teach young people networking skills and enable social mobility.

Our aim is to level the playing field by enabling all young people aged 14-24 equal access to positive networks and mentors, delivered within a positive and nurturing environment. We aim to reduce social exclusion and increase community cohesion between young people, businesses, and statutory services. Many of the recipients of our programmes come from disadvantaged backgrounds or are identified as being at risk of school exclusion and or long-term unemployment.

Our programmes are designed to expose students to volunteers that they’re likely to encounter whilst trying to gain employment and to take away the fear and to give them confidence to communicate to new and diverse people; give them a different perspective on life with the confidence that they are valued and able to succeed; and help them understand the skills and experience they already have.

We are looking to recruit a new role to support our expanding school delivery programmes. You will be required to deliver the Local Village Network Amplify Me programme to year 9, 10 & 12 students in schools in Schools across London, including Islington, Barnet, Camden, Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Haringey, Lambeth & Westminster.

You will facilitate the delivery supported by Local Village Network businesses volunteers. The volunteers are prepared to speak to the students about their career path and help the students complete the Local Village Network Amplify Me work booklet. Your role is to encourage questions and engagement.

This is a 3-day a week role. You will be required to facilitate between two and three sessions per day.

The role of the facilitator is to
- Meet and greet the volunteers and to talk them through the outline of the session. (Volunteers will have had this in their training, and had documentation). They will need reminding and help with confidence to enter a classroom.
- Liaise with the teachers on the day
- Talk to the class about the importance of networks
- Guide the class through the work booklets ensuring completion
- Mark attendance of students and volunteers on the LVN system.
- Ensure evaluation forms are completed and uploaded to the LVN system.
- Deal with any disruptions during the class
- Liaise with LVN HQ to deliver any feedback or suggest improvements to the programme

You will receive comprehensive training before you go into a session and will shadow current LVN facilitators before running a session alone.

Person spec
- Being equally comfortable speaking with corporate volunteers and a class full of 14/18-year-olds
- Confident
- Punctual
- Nurturing
- Organised
- Friendly
- Able to run an hour session with adult volunteers and young people
- Good public speaking
- Would be a great opportunity for someone with youth work experience or someone passionate about supporting young people
