**WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING**

**Business area introduction**

The ESG Solutions team partners with coverage and product teams to integrate ESG and sustainability topics into our client dialogue as well as product and financing structures.

Contribute to enhancing strategic dialogue with corporate and financial and SSA institution clients in the areas of ESG and sustainable finance topics.

Enhance in-house knowledge and expertise in the area of ESG and sustainable finance.

**Key activities**

The key objectives of the role:

- Contribute to the build out of the Sustainable Capital Markets team within the bank’s cross-divisional ESG Solutions Group, reporting into the Head of Sustainable Capital Markets
- Working in close alignment, under the direction of the Head of Sustainable Capital Markets, with the global DCM and syndicate teams among others (including: GTF, Markets, Syndicate, Sales, Coverage Bankers, Responsible Banking etc)
- Support the development and maintenance across the business area an integrated programme to identify, assess, manage and report risks and controls enabling the achievement of ESG Solutions team’s objectives
- Support the ESG Solutions team to operate effectively and in adherence to the internal policies of the bank and legislative/regulatory guidelines of relevant external authorities
- Support best practice within the team, ensuring appropriate strategic dialogue is being provided to clients
- To support the team members’ (particularly junior resource) development potential and to give effective individual feedback while being an active listener. To manage and evaluate people in an objective manner. To encourage others by supporting them and celebrating success.
- Advise issuers on green / social / sustainable debt instruments, involving drafting of sustainability frameworks, choice of second party opinion providers, KPI design as well as reporting and investor engagement aspects
- Support designing innovative structures, such as transition bonds and sustainability-linked bonds as well as new labels within the use-of-proceeds space
- Analysing and identifying key ESG, sustainability, ESG rating and capital structure related issues faced by Santander’s corporate and financial and SSA institutions clients
- Through detailed analysis, design potential solutions that address core ESG topics taking into account:

- Clients’ sustainability strategy and objectives
- Clients’ ESG reporting and disclosure
- Pertinent industry and regulatory developments
- ESG positioning including risks and opportunities
- General corporate purpose or proceeds-based financing options in relation to sustainability-related products
- Support the increased alignment in the organisation around the clients’ and the Group’s mutual success. Support others to actively develop new business opportunities, improve service quality and exceed client expectations

**What we’re looking for**
- CISI Regulatory, Securities and Derivatives Modules (can be acquired after joining)
- Professional qualification beyond degree, e.g. Chartered Accountant or CFA qualification

**What else you need to know**

This role is based in our Triton Square office in London, conveniently located within walking distance from Euston Station and Warren Street Station.

Given the recent impact of the Coronavirus outbreak we will be conducting all interviews via telephone or video-conference where possible.
