Our Youth Service Digital Youth Work Team is looking to employ a **Corporate Apprentice(Level 2) Youth Worker** based at North Ely Youth Centre, Pethybridge Road, Cardiff CF5 4DP to contribute to our Service helping us to deliver youth work provisions for young people aged 11-25 and consists of a talented and enthusiastic team of professional youth workers who operate across the city. This set up consists of youth centres, specialist provisions, youth mentoring and street-based youth work teams that all provide a wide variety of creative opportunities and experiences that encourage the participation and development of young people in communities. All teams promote a strong connection between targeted and universal youth work that ensures there is a consistent offer of support to young people when they need it.

The Digital Youth Work Team works with young people across the city to develop a digital offer that is needs led and co-produced with young people. The offer consists of digital youth work activity/opportunities and developing digital literacy skills. The aim of this team is to work closely with an editorial group to ensure that young people have access to youth service provisions. This team will support staff members within the service and work with other stakeholders to increase access to youth services.

This role may involve home working and you will be encouraged to develop the skills to support this. Where homeworking is required, you will be given the necessary equipment however, you will need to arrange your own internet connectivity.

**About the job**
In this Corporate **Apprentice(Level 2) Youth Work** role you will learn to

develop the skills you need to fully contribute to our service and become part of a staff team who are responsible for supporting young people to develop holistically.

You will gain experience within a variety of youth work settings including Street Based Youth Work, Open Access provision, small groups and one-to-one youth work, targeted support and Digital Youth Work.

You will be working with young people face to face to facilitate their personal, social and educational development, to enable them to develop their voice, influence and place in society and to reach their full potential.

You will assist in the day-to-day administration and will be required to carry out a number of IT based tasks and be happy to use a computer to create documents using a variety of software.

You will assist in the delivery of exciting programmes/projects face-to-face or virtually that promotes participation and also assist in the provision of information, support and guidance for young people in the locality.

Full training will be provided and our Team will help and encourage you to develop in the role and you will be encouraged to take on a variety of duties. You will receive supervision and on the job training and will have a named mentor to support you to deliver an efficient and effective service in a positive, customer-focused manner.

The Corporate Apprentice & Trainee Scheme also provides opportunities to enhance your transferrable skills to help support your career progression.

Many of our teams have moved to online and homeworking working and you will be encouraged to develop the skills to support this. Where homeworking is required, you will be given the necessary equipment however, you will need to arrange your own internet connectivity (some support may be available to help with this).

Although you will be provided with a base, you will be required to work from various locations in accordance with the needs of the role. This will include evening work each week and occasional weekend work.

This post is temporary for **18** months if worked full time, or longer if worked part time. Most roles are based on a 37 hour week although many roles can be worked on a part time basis and at least 16 hours per week for apprentice roles.
