We are recruiting for a Clinical Business Development Manager to join an expanding area of business to develop new services for our pharmaceutical clients. In this newly created role you will proactively seek and introduce new business opportunities withinUK, EU, and North American markets in line with business plans and growth forecasts to support services for clinical development. You must have a strong scientific background, ideally gained within a CRO/CMO environment, with a track-record of strategizing,identifying and managing to completion commercially viable clinical development opportunities.

**About the role**
Main duties and responsibilities:
Identify new business opportunities for clinical services, including markets, clients, partnerships or products and services
Create strategies to successfully reach new business opportunities for these clinical services
Build relationships with new clients, gauging their needs and developing proposals to address these needs
Maintain and develop relationships with current clients
Pitch sales and need for clinical services to new and existing clients
Create sales forecasts and actively work towards reaching them
Actively manage the process through lead generation, meeting setting, client negotiations and preparation of proposals and agreements
Manage the opportunity pipeline and support internal administration within the CRM system
Attendance at appropriate conferences, seminars, exhibitions etc. with a view to networking and gathering market intelligence, developing, and maintaining comprehensive competitor profiles
Management reporting of business development activities for new product development and services to the Business Development Director, Technical Director and wider Leadership Team as required
Maintain new business relationships and related project reports, providing regular feedback from the customer to Custom teams
Develop the marketing strategy and budget for new business in clinical area and manage planned activities and resources
Participate in review/updates to the company Business Development strategy as required
Participate in annual review/updates to the Custom 5-year business plan as required
Liaising regularly with Project Managers to support resolution of any issues and ensure delivery in full and on time to Customer
**About You**
Qualifications, knowledge, experience skills required:
Strong technical/scientific background with the ability to identify commercially viable project opportunities and manage through project lifecycle to completion
Experience in a CRO/CMO environment
Experience within analytical development, formulation development and ideally commercial manufacture
Experience of project management, ideally within a clinical/CDMO environment Experience of working directly with formulation scientists and analytical development scientists internally and also externally with customer teams in early stages of clinical developmentprojects
Experience of client facing activities and generating new leads
Able to integrate successfully into an established technical/scientific/commercial team at Custom
Strong understanding of GMP standards and ideally regulatory requirements
Project management skills - ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects
Strategic mindset with pro-active approach
Very strong commercial focus with a commitment to meeting deadlines and financial targets
Persuasive communicator - ability to influence senior managers, fellow technical and scientific specialists, and customers
Excellent listening skills
Strong commitment to continuing professional development
Highly motivated, self-starter with good organisation skills who is able to introduce new services to new clients
IT skills (Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Home based with regular travel throughout the UK, visiting/meeting international clients, participating in conferences and exhibitions. In future travel within Europe and internationally.
Regular travel to both Custom sites in Brighton and Hove as required
