We are seeking an enthusiastic dynamic registered nurse with a broad knowledge in tissue viability, with an enhanced experience in leg ulcer management; to lead and manage the well-established community leg ulcer clinics in the Brighton & Hove demographic. Clinics are currently run Monday-Friday 09.00-14.00 hours and based at Conway Court Clinic and Moulsecoomb Health Centre.
You will work closely with other multi-professional teams within SCFT and GP practices across the catchment area. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential, as you will be working closely with patients and leg ulcer clinic staff to support best practice for this patient group. The role involves triage of patients, hands on clinical hours, managing staff and training and education of the wider teams within the community setting. Mentorship is essential as you will be responsible for line management of staff and competency updates of other teams core skills with regard to leg ulceration.
**The role is 30 hours per week to be worked over 4 days**: 18 hours clinical within the clinic setting or assessing patients in GP surgeries, 12 hours management/admin.
You will be supported / line managed by the Tissue Viability Nurse Specialist and will be encouraged to further develop your skills and knowledge both as part of the team and independently to further develop the service and implement evidence-based practice. There will be opportunities for further academic study to support you in this role.
The post holder will have delegated responsibility for supporting and developing high quality, evidence based, leg ulcer management and wound care practices within the community leg ulcer clinics within the Brighton & Hove geographical area. The role involves triaging patient referrals to the clinic, provision of direct patient care, taking the lead in the management of complex patients, attending the clinic, you will be supported by the Tissue Viability Nurse Specialist; alongside supporting development of skills and knowledge for the staff working within the clinic and wider TV team. The role will involve the provision of clinical supervision and appraisals to
the leg ulcer clinic staff in line with trust policy. Post holder will work closely with Team Administrator around clinic appointments,
staff rotas and referrals. The post holder will support the wider TV team staff and community nursing teams with complex leg ulcer patients in the community, where appropriate, as well as participating in the trust education sessions on leg ulcer management.
