Young People's Wellbeing Practitioner

Power Up is a young people’s wellbeing and social action project for young people aged 10-25 living in Cardiff and The Vale of Glamorgan.
Power Up is a new project that will provide frontline wellbeing support to young people age 10-25 experiencing challenges with their mental health. This will include 1-1 coaching sessions, the delivery of wellbeing programmes, and regular social groups. The project will take a trauma and relationally informed approach to providing support, focusing on connection, community, and creativity.
Alongside providing a wellbeing service, Power Up also intends to support young people to create social change within their communities and within Wales. This will be done through engagement with local and national governments, such as responding to consultations and visits to the Senedd, and a number of mini-projects that will come under the umbrella of Power Up, including a young inspectors reviewing scheme, a social change mentoring scheme, the launch of the Power Up Podcast, and Wonderfest Cardiff.
The delivery phase of the project will be delivered from October 2023 until October 2026.
The project’s delivery plan has been co-designed with young people, based on research and findings from the project’s development year. The project has aimed to plan its delivery in accordance with feedback around existing services, looking specifically at providing creative solutions to issues raised.
Putting young people in the lead and empowering them to affect change will be put at the heart of Power Up, and young people will be involved in the management, delivery, and evaluation of the project.
We work with people experiencing challenges with their mental health, and with communities who want to create a greater sense of wellbeing in the places that they live. Through our projects, we work with thousands of people each year.
We believe that long-lasting wellbeing comes about by understanding how lives can be shaped by traumatic experiences, identifying people’s strengths and focussing on healing. We know we can’t ‘fix’ people, but we can walk alongside people and help where we can on their journey.
We try hard to make Platfform a great place to work, we live our values and mission in everything that we do.
