The Cardiff Family Wellbeing Service is at the forefront of providing essential support to families in the city. As a Welsh Government funded initiative and a key component of the Families First Strategy for Cardiff, our service is committed to enhancing the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children, young people, and adults.
We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to join our dynamic team as an Assessing Therapist Practitioner. This role plays a crucial part in the coordination of our service, supporting individuals and families facing emotional wellbeing and mental health challenges, but are below the level where they would be entitled to specialist health services and/or statutory care and support.
You will work alongside service management and the clinical Lead, reporting to the Children's Service Manager and be required to:
- Conduct assessments to identify the needs of children, young people, and adults requiring intensive support.
- Support the development of therapeutic support plans to respond to the needs identified.
- Evaluate intervention outcomes with individuals and families, selecting appropriately validated measures.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of therapists and family practitioners to deliver coordinated and effective interventions.
- Provide therapeutic support to individuals and families
- Engage with relevant stakeholders and partner agencies to enhance the overall support network for families.
- Provide therapeutic family sessions in appropriate community settings according to need and participate in meetings and reviews for families with complex needs.
- Work with the management team to ensure that the service is delivered within the requirements of the commissioning contract
- Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the service and to support the collation of service data.
- To maintain registration and accreditation of core professional body, fulfil clinical supervision requirements for role and attend mandatory training courses in line with Barnardo's policy
**You will have (essential criteria)**:
- Professional qualification in a core health / social profession and be registered with their professional body, e.g. first level mental health nurse (RMN), psychology degree
- Substantial relevant experience of therapeutic work with children, young people and families and therefore a good understanding of the factors impacting on vulnerable children and young people and families (disadvantage, poverty, disability,, loss, trauma and substance misuse as well as parental conflict and domestic abuse)
- Experience of the planning, delivery and evaluation of creative/therapeutic work in statutory and voluntary services including schools and community settings
- Knowledge of current practice and legislation alongside experience of dealing with and exploring ethical practice issues in line with BACP guidelines
- Experience of supervising staff, volunteers or students and leading a team.
