**About the Role**
The Payments Team, consisting of a team of 6 people, are responsible for ensuring the Council and relevant partners have efficient, effective systems and controls in place for the purchase and payment of goods and services.
We are looking for a strong team member who will demonstrate their commitment to the service together with the ability to make decisions, work on own initiative and complete complex tasks within agreed timescales. It is essential critical routines are carried out daily and deadlines are met.
**About You**
The ideal applicant will have/be:
- At least 2 years’ experience in a payments environment
- Experience of controlling payment systems and procedures to ensure all payments made by the Council comply with all statutory requirements and regulatory frameworks
- A sound working knowledge of the regulatory framework of the Construction Industry Taxation Scheme
- A sound working knowledge of the regulatory framework around VAT
- Ability to demonstrate competency on spreadsheet and word processing packages
- Ability to produce reports in spreadsheet format from information stored on the finance system
- Knowledge of Agresso based systems or similar and ability to train new users
- Educated to a minimum A Level or equivalent, NVQ Level 3 and ideally a recognised accountancy/financial qualification
