We are urgently seeking an experienced and skilled **Payroll Officer** to assist with running payrolls, production of BACS, checking of payroll input and control reports, management of third party payment requirements and statutory reportingfor one of our local government client based in Bristol.
The **Payroll Officer** will maintain the integrity of all payroll data and records held within financial and manual systems including regular housekeeping routines and the production of analysis and exception reports to ensure the timely andaccurate production of payments.
They will process and reconcile all payroll variations starters and leavers prior to timetabled payroll runs (expenses, timesheets, statutory notifications, sickness and maternity deductions, arrears, pay awards, pension deductions & Employee Benefit deductionsand honorarium etc) and undertake periodic verification that all such transactions are made in accordance with Financial Regulations, Standing Orders and policies and statutory requirements.
- Must hold minimum of 5 GCSEs including Maths and English at grade C or above.
- Hold or studying for a vocational/professional qualification such as advanced payroll Technician
- An in-depth working knowledge of payroll legislation to be able to process all payroll variations and emergency payments as well as associated tax, pension and NI implications.
- Experience in payroll administration.
- Preferably understanding and working experience of Local Government payroll, HMRC Regulations and The Pension Regulator requirements
- Experience of working with iTrent payroll and HR software would be an advantage
