Payroll Specialist

Butler Rose is working with one of the UK's leading facilities management and professional services companies in their search for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their team in Keynsham, Bristol. This is a six-month temporary role, based in Bristol with hybrid working, paying £16.67 per hour PAYE to the successful candidate.
Hours: 7.5 hours per day between 08:00 and 17:30 (some flexibility possible)
Hybrid Policy: 2 weeks initial training in office, then work from home with 2 office days per month.
DBS: Basic DBS required
This role is ideal for a skilled payroller with strong experience using SAP and a thorough understanding of UK payroll legislation.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate and compliant payroll services, acting as a bridge between our business and offshore teams. You will provide expert support on complex payroll issues, ensure data accuracy, and contribute to process improvements and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in UK payroll and related services.
- Support offshore teams with complex cases, error resolution, and process escalations.
- Manage and oversee payroll audits, data reviews, and approvals.
- Provide training to managers and offshore teams on payroll processes and systems.
- Drive process improvements and support payroll-related projects.
- Ensure data integrity, compliance with NMW, and high standards of service delivery.
- Oversee and approve out-of-cycle and manual payments in payroll banking systems.
What We're Looking For:
- Extensive experience in payroll processing and administration, ideally within a Shared Services environment.
- Strong SAP payroll knowledge is essential.
- Deep understanding of UK payroll legislation.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- CIPP qualification (or equivalent) desirable.
