**About us**

Avencia Consulting are currently recruiting for a Junior Accountant on behalf of a leading specialty Insurer in the City.

The Company currently writes lines of business including; speciality insurance: aviation & aerospace, energy, marine, property, credit & political risk, and other speciality; reinsurance: property reinsurance, property retrocession, speciality reinsurance,whole account/multi-class.

**The role**

Seeking Junior level accounting support to join the Finance team in fast paced, rapidly expanding business

**Key accountabilities**
- Review and verify invoices and check requests
- Enter and upload invoices into accounts payable module for approval
- Sort and code invoices in accordance with pre-determined budget portfolios
- Schedule invoice payments based on defined payment terms
- Prepare and process electronic funds transfers and payments
- Post transactions to accounts payable ledger and other records
- Reconcile accounts payable ledger to the general ledger
- Monitor accounts payable ledger to ensure supplier payments are up to date
- Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
- Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
- Maintain electronic vendor files including the verification of vendor bank details
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for non-technical accounts
- Assist in the preparation of the monthly accruals and prepayment schedules
- Assist with audit support as necessary
- Prepare analysis of expense accounts as necessary
- Support the senior non-technical accountants with the month and quarter end close processes.

**Skills & experience**
- Working towards an accounting designation not required but considered an asset
- Knowledge of general accounting principles considered an asset, particularly in relation to accruals and prepayments
- Knowledge of relevant accounting software (previous experience with Oracle and SAP Concur preferred but not required)
- Proficient in data entry and management
- Ability to prioritise, multitask and meet deadlines
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work as part of a broader finance team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
