**Test Rig & Instrumentation Engineer**:

Our client is one of the UKs leading Automotive Engineering companies and they are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Test Rig and Instrumentation Engineer to come and join their team.
**Main Purpose of Role**:
Supporting product development activities, you will be responsible for preparing and maintaining test facilities and equipment as required for powertrain testing. Additionally, you will complete testing as required to support the project and product teams.
**Key Activities**:

- Specify & select test equipment to achieve test objectives
- Support planning & procurement of new equipment
- Specify and if necessary, design bespoke parts required for testing, working with internal and external suppliers to manufacture hardware.
- Prepare and set up test equipment, including hardware and software
- Confirm test equipment continues to function correctly and maintain accuracy of test results
- Ensure data is stored correctly and appropriate records are maintained
- Complete individual tests to support the product develop aims and with appropriate levels of accuracy
- Always work within Health and Safety requirements for yourself and others
- Work with the Engineering Test Facilities team, delegating tasks or completing hands on work as appropriate
- Prepare technical reports and presentations especially regarding test facility topics
- UK travel, in line with customer requirements
- Liaise with external suppliers and customers as required
- You are familiar in hardware and software system integration, such as integration of new sensors, into a new or existing test system.

**Education/Qualifications Required**:

- Honours Degree in an appropriate engineering discipline is desirable

**Experience Required**:

- Electric motors, transmissions and/or power electronics is ideal
- Highly dynamic or rotating machines is desirable
- Automotive, commercial vehicles or rail sectors is desirable especially within powertrain systems
- You have knowledge of communication protocols, can read and make electrical schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Engaging with external testing houses for the provision of services not supported in-house
- Creation of test procedures and interpreting standard tests
- Unit testing and integration experience

**Skills & Attributes Required**:

- Ability to interpret test results, check plausibility and accuracy
- Good organisational skills working in cross-business teams and with external facilities
- Ability to work to deadlines
- Ability to debug and isolate problems quickly
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in cross-business teams and build a rapport with individuals from a variety of backgrounds
- Ability to work in other areas of engineering such as (CAD) design, simulation and control systems is desirable is desirable
