BlairWest are working with Advanced Electric Machines (AEM), a client who produce the world’s most sustainable electric motor for electric vehicles, using no rare earth metals and with the ability to be copper-free. AEM works closely with several high-profilebrands including Bentley, SAF Holland, CNH and SCG. They are in the process of scaling up from current production output of 12,000 units per year, with the ambition of becoming a global component supplier by the end of the decade. Based in Washington, theycompany intend to make the North East its centre-piece of its operations as it grows from over 50 staff to around 1000 engineering, manufacturing and customer-support staff.
**The Role**:
- Understand the impact key machine downtime will have, plan/organise accordingly Identify and monitor trackside spares for your areas
- Keep an up to date record of required parts
- Understand and identify required spares
- Raise purchasing requests and liaise with purchasing to understand deadlines
- Interpreting CAD drawings for rigging
- Manual handling, use of overhead crane
- Working with the powertrain testing team to gain technical input and execute test procedures
**Your Experience**:
- Experience of working in a demanding test environment.
- Able to produce clear documentation for processes
- Able to understand mathematical techniques, formula and calculations in a mechatronics maintenance environment and the type of equipment being maintained
- Able to understand mechanical, electrical, electronic, fluid power and process control principles in a mechatronics maintenance environment
- Able to understand fault diagnostic methods, techniques and equipment used when maintaining equipment and systems
- Able to understand condition monitoring methods, equipment used and how the information gained supports the planning of maintenance activities
- Knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems desirable
**Education/Qualification required**:
- Educated to HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (extensive experience considered as an alternative)
