Buyer / Planner Supply Chain Operations

A specialist SME manufacturer require a Buyer / Planner. Applicants need experience within supply chain (purchasing, expediting, materials planning, logistics) and have an appreciation of operations coordination within a manufacturing business.
The Buyer / Planner will be responsible for tactical purchasing activity and ensuring continuity of supply to the business. This is an exciting, end-to-end supply chain role which will grant the Buyer / Planner exposure to all elements of operations withina manufacturing business.
In reality, the role could be called Supply Chain Operations Coordinator due to the variety and diversity of responsibility.
There will be a high level of coordination activities with stakeholders in finance, production and engineering so excellent relationship building skills will be essential in this role.
Specific duties of the Buyer / Planner include:
- Placing purchase orders on MRP system and chasing/expediting
- Management and monitoring of supplier relationships and performance
- Book stock into the warehouse and manage stock levels once in the business
- Oversee outbound logistics of product to customers in UK and overseas
- Support process improvement within the business across supply chain operations
Buyer / Planner applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Experience within purchasing or supply chain (Buyer, Junior Buyer, Planner, Material Control, Logistics)
- An appreciation of supply chain operations within manufacturing or project management
- College / University education - A Levels or equivalent
- IT literacy whether MRP/ERP, MS Excel or a similar business system
- Seeking a progressive career within; purchasing, supply chain, operations or logistics
