**Job description**:
A global engineering business require are recruiting for a Procurement Buyer or Senior Buyer. Applicants need procurement or supplier management experience, within a fast-paced manufacturing or engineering environment.

The Procurement Buyer / Senior Buyer will be responsible for the sourcing and supplier management of assigned categories, most likely mechanically engineered products and manufacturing services. The role will entail a blend of operational and strategic procurement tasks - such as scheduling/re-scheduling of orders, supplier development and negotiation.

Specific duties of the jobholder will include:

- Supplier development and supplier improvement activities of critical supply and subcontract partners
- Manage supply of products and components to meet customer/production demand
- Co-operation with engineering/technical colleagues in relation to supplier quality issues
- Contribution to department savings targets
- Support initiatives to drive efficiencies and improvements in procurement processes/systems

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

- Experience as a Buyer, Senior Buyer, Category Buyer or Strategic Buyer within manufacturing or engineering
- Experience in taking ownership and resolving supplier issues
- The ability to use and understand procurement data to drive decision making
- Comfortable working with engineering colleagues, and suppliers on technical issues
- Capable of working under-pressure in a fast-paced environment
