This opportunity is a part of the Train Services team at Heathrow Express, who support this work by understanding how punctual our trains are, the way that they interact, and how effective or reliable our equipment and systems are, and then use this knowledge to make improvements.
The Planning & Performance Assistant will be a key member of the Train Services team as they capture the running of our trains compared to the timetable, and report as the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) set out by our National Rail Contract (NRC), and in other formats requested by the business. They maintain accurate records of financial performance regimes and warn the business of worsening trends. Proactive analysis is carried out to identify areas for improvement and to support the Train Services team in delivering our business objectives.
Please note there may be travel to meetings required - nationwide (Swindon, Bristol, Didcot, not limited to).
**Your role will involve**:
- Creating, maintaining and reporting of Train Planning & Performance measures.
- Governance of base timetable trains files, base unit diagrams, and mileage forecasts.
- Verifying and reporting of punctuality and reliability statistics internally and externally with stakeholders.
- Reporting of National Rail Contract KPIs internally and externally with stakeholders and Senior Leadership Teams.
- Bespoke performance analysis as requested by business with accompanying recommendations.
**These skills are essential**:
- Sound analytical aptitude.
- Able to manage own workload and prioritise tasks.
- Good attention to detail.
- Experienced user of Microsoft packages, including Excel, Word and Teams.
- Positive and constructive attitude to challenges.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, and to understand business consequences of that change.
**Ideally, you'll also have**:
- Experience of railway performance systems (e.g.: TRUST, Quartz, open source apps).
- Experienced user of Power BI and Sharepoint.
- Knowledge of railway planning and performance processes.
- Understanding of data storage and security principles.
- Railway operations.
