**Job Title **Apprentice Finance Assistant
**Hospice Pay Band **£9,880 - £19,025 (depending on age)
**Job Summary**
Responsible for delivering high quality support and administration within the Finance Department. The
focus of this role will be to provide support across all areas of the finance function, which will provide an
excellent learning and development opportunity for someone seeking to build a career in accountancy
and finance.
**Key Responsibilities
**Main duties:
Deal with all correspondence arriving in the Finance Department, sort and distribute to the
relevant staff member as appropriate.
Entry of supplier invoices onto the finance system, allocation to managers and ensuring invoices
are received back and dealt with in a timely manner.
Dealing with managers queries on supplier invoices.
Supplier payment runs.
Provide assistance with Accounts Receivable.
Work with the Finance Assistant on bank reconciliations, income coding and allocation, accruals
and prepayments and management reporting as required.
Answer telephone and deal professionally with enquiries.
Deal appropriately with all visitors to the Finance Office.
General office duties as necessary including photocopying, ordering office stationary, filing and
archiving.
Provide cover for / assistance to other Finance Team members as deemed appropriate by the
Finance Director, in order to meet departmental requirements.
Undertake conscientiously such other tasks and responsibilities as maybe required and
reasonable in the circumstances at the time.
Undergo such training and instruction as may be required to competently carry out the needs of
the job.
Attend and participate in such meetings as may be reasonably required.
The duties and responsibilities referred to above are an outline only and may be changed from time to
time in accordance with the needs of the Hospice.

**Confidentiality**
In the course of your duties, you will have access to confidential material about patients, members of staff
or other hospice business. On no account must information relating to identifiable patients be divulged to
anyone other than those authorised persons, for example, medical, nursing or other professional staff, as
appropriate, who are concerned directly with the care, diagnosis and or/treatment of the patient. If you are
in any doubt whatsoever as to the authority of a person or body asking for information of this nature, you
must seek advice from your manager. Similarly, no information of a personal or confidential nature
concerning individual members of staff should be divulged to anyone without the proper authority having
first been given.
