We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. **About The Role** As our new Employment and Training Coordinator, you will play a key role in the "Building Bridges in South Tyneside" project. Reporting to the Youth & Outreach Team Leader, you will oversee and develop a three-tiered training and employment program funded by sources such as Building Bridges, Henry Smith Charity, and SeaChange. Additionally, you will lead our training café and community navigation and independent travel training initiatives, conduct accessibility audits of work placements and public transport routes, and create Access to Work support plans. This position requires some early evening and weekend work to accommodate participants' schedules. **What You’ll Be Doing** 1. Programme Development - Lead the development and implementation of a three-tiered training and employment programme tailored to the needs of autistic participants. - Design and deliver structured training sessions that facilitate job mentoring, coaching, and practical employment skills. 2. Training Cafe Management - Lead practical sessions in the Youth Training Cafe, providing hands-on training in areas such as customer service, food preparation, and teamwork. - Develop and deliver training curricula for the Skills Cafe, ensuring sessions are engaging, relevant, and tailored to individual needs. 3. Community Navigation - Lead community navigation and independent travel training sessions, helping participants gain confidence and competence in using public transportation and navigating their communities. - Conduct accessibility audits of work placements and public transport routes to identify and address barriers to employment and independent travel. 4. Support & Progress Monitoring - Create and manage Access to Work support plans for participants, ensuring they receive the necessary adaptations and resources. - Monitor participants' progress through regular feedback sessions and individualised support plans. **How You Will Make A Difference** Our young people are at the heart of everything we do, and they've shared what matters most to them in the people who support them. They told us they need someone who: - Makes an effort to comprehend their unique perspectives - Truly listens, giving them space to express themselves openly. - Treats them with dignity and understanding, regardless of their background or challenges. - Motivates and supports them to reach their potential. - Understands that growth takes time and offers steady support. - Has a positive and kind attitude that helps them navigate difficult times. - Cares about supporting young people and helping them thrive. - Naturally embodies understanding and compassion. - Is resilient and approaches obstacles with a can-do attitude. - Can connect with people from all walks of life. - Believes that collaboration leads to the best outcomes. - Brings joy and positivity to work, making interactions enjoyable. **Your Experience, Education and Skills** **Experience**: - Neurodiversity Support: A minimum of two years’ experience working with neurodivergent individuals or in a comparable role. - Employability and Training: Proven experience in employability services or managing training programs. - Supervisory Customer Service: Demonstrated supervisory experience within a customer service environment. - SEND Expertise: Essential experience with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including effectively managing challenging behaviours. **Education**: - Teaching qualification or youth work equivalent at Level 4. **Skills**: - Strong coaching and mentoring abilities. - Experience in programme development and curriculum planning. - Ability to tailor training to individual needs. - Excellent organisational skills.
