**Data Manager, Data Science, Commercial R&D**
This is a great opportunity for a Data Manager or Lead Data Scientist with strong statistical, mathematical and modelling skills, to join a world-class scientific R&D organisation, with offices across the globe.
**The Opportunity**
As part of a digital transformation, the Data Manager / Lead Data Scientist will hold a strategic, largely hands-off position, leading a small, international team of Data Scientists and Statisticians, to actively support and promote Data Science across thebusiness.
Working closely with scientists and engineers, the Data Manager / Lead Data Scientist will lead the team to drive the continuous improvement of processes, platforms, and tools to actively support Data Science within the business, will identify opportunitiesto further develop advanced Data Science capabilities within the organisation and will promote advanced data visualisation capabilities, all with the aim of using data to provide insights, solve problems, and enable superior data-driven decision making.
**Benefits**
Along with a competitive basic salary, the Data Manager / Lead Data Scientist position also attracts a bonus scheme which is targeted at 10% of basic salary, but has been paying out above target over recent years, a pension contribution to 10%, private medicalcover and life assurance.Whilst working from home is possible, their offices are easily commutable from the A34 and there is free parking on site.
**The successful Data Manager / Lead Data Scientist is likely to have**:
- Strong, relevant data-based academics, ideally Maths, Statistics, Data Science or a scientific field with a strong statistical content
- Experience leading/managing technical teams - whilst a Data Science team is preferred, experience from related teams such as molecular modelling, bioinformatics etc., could also be relevant
- Previous commercial experience in areas such as data science, statistical analysis and software, machine learning, Python, etc.
- R&D / research experience would be advantageous
