**POST: Senior **Leisure Assistant
**SERVICE AREA**:The Circle at Hadley Learning Community
**HOURS OF WORK: Weekday Evenings/Weekends**
**RESPONSIBLE TO**:Leisure and Community Duty Managers
**JOB PURPOSE**: To prepare and monitor the use of the leisure facilities by the public and other users.
**MAIN DUTIES**:SPECIFIC**
- **SAFETY**
Ensuring the safety of the general public using the Leisure Centre is the major responsibility.
Ensure safe and effective usage of all resuscitation equipment.
Checking for obstacles or damage that could in any way endanger staff of members of the public. Taking immediate and direct action in the event of user(s) endangering themselves or others.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
Responsible for and provide lifeguard cover ensuring safe use of the two onsite pools, assisting pool users in difficulty and administering lifesaving techniques where necessary.
Patrolling the poolside and using the high chair in the pool area to provide effective monitoring of the pool for all users.
Understand and carry out duties in line with the normal operating procedures and assist with emergency procedures as set out in the emergency action plans.
- **ACCIDENTS**
Taking IMMEDIATE action to give what help can be given to the casualty.
Informing the Duty Manager in charge, of a casualty (or near casualty) as soon as possible. Filling in the relevant paperwork.
Clearing the pool if necessary in the case of casualty and giving assistance with first aid if necessary.
- **GENERAL**
Maintain a high standard of discipline at the Circle.
Ensure and affect the highest standards of cleanliness housekeeping, hygiene, safety, basic maintenance and security at all times.
Patrolling all parts of the Circle and spot cleaning where necessary and assist in the securing of the Circle.
Cleaning of the poolside, changing rooms, toilets and any other areas of the facilities as instructed, during and at the end of any period of duty.
Carrying out the changeover of equipment, ensuring that the equipment is in safe working order and reporting any faults and defects to the Duty Manager. Health and Safety must be a priority in any decision making.
Keeping all parts of the building clear of litter (outside and in)
Undertake specific duties as directed by supervising staff to ensure the highest quality service is available to all customers at all time.
Maintain the highest service of customer service in both face to face and telephone interactions with members of the public and telephone conversations, in line with the NOP and Mitie practices.
Staff uniforms will be provided by Interserve, this must be worn on duty. The uniform will remain the property of Interserve.
To comply with the Data Protection Act and ensure confidentiality of staff and customer records.
To sell and promote the services of the Circle at HLC.
Assist the Duty Manager in the safe operation of the pool plant, by completing 2 hourly pool tests on both on site pools.
To undertake reception work as part of your role, to take bookings, answer phone calls and cash handling.
To work cohesively with all members of site staff.
Any other relevant duties as required by the Duty Manager.
**GENERAL DUTIES**
To comply with Interserve values and policies.
To behave at all times with a high degree of professional and personal integrity and probity so as to ensure trust is maintained in the work undertaken by the post holder and in relationships with staff and customers of the Circle and other organisations.
To take reasonable care of health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions and to comply with Interserve's Safety Policy and relevant legislation.

To undertake any other duties that may be required by the Community and Leisure Facilities Manager or Leisure Duty Managers.
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
Possession of the RLSS Pool Lifeguard Qualification, current and up-to-date.
The post holder must continue to possess the RLSS National Pool Qualification. Failure to do so will result in termination of your employment.
It is a condition that you attend mandatory training deemed necessary to meet the competencies required to carry out the full duties required to carry out the full duties of a Leisure Assistant in line with the Circle's NOP. Failure to attend such training to maintain the required competency level for the health and safety of our customers will be viewed as Gross Misconduct under Interserve's Disciplinary Procedure. The post holder will also be required to attend designated staff meetings.
