Infant Feeding Lead

The post holder is required to be responsible for leading the Maternity and Neonatal staff in providing high quality care for infant feeding and relationship building. This applies within the hospital, the co-located Birth centre and community setting.
As a qualified Nurse/Midwife, the post holder will be expected to have specialist knowledge and/or wide experience in this field, and the confidence to share this knowledge with other professionals.
The post holder will be responsible for coordinating the appropriate training and updating within the team and act as a role model for the staff.
The post holder will be responsible for maintaining and improving on the Baby friendly Initiative full accreditation (Maternity) and for leading the Neonatal Unit through to full accreditation.
Provide both a standard for infant feeding care and develop and implement individual programmes of care for mothers with specific feeding challenges. Promote close and loving relationships, considering the woman & child/s individual needs. Ensure all staff are fully trained in order that women and their partners are provided with the best information necessary for them to make informed decisions about new-born care and method of feeding. Act as an advocate for the mothers and infants. Act as an expert resource to provide specialist knowledge and skills for all staff (Medical/Midwifery & Nursing), students and MCA’s when supporting women with feeding their babies.
