The post holder will work as part of a team to promote the health and wellbeing of children, young people and families. They will have a strong focus on the introduction of family foods and supporting with the Pathway to Parenting roll out as well as supporting the Infant Feeding Lead to ensure the achievement and maintenance of the full UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative Accreditation.

**The post holder will be required to**:

- Be able to act autonomously.
- To support the integrated 0-19 Healthy Child Programme (HCP) locality team in providing an innovative and high quality service in an environment that enhances client care and promotes child and family wellbeing
- To workwithoutdirect supervision with service users who are identified as needing further support with Infant Feeding issues.
- To act as first contact in Infant Feeding clinics and Introducing Family Foods Workshops, ensuring a high standard of client care.
- To liaise regularly with the Infant Feeding Lead to assist in the co-ordination and development of the service.
- To support the auditing of staff and service users as per UNICEF and Trust requirements.
- To facilitate health programmes independently or in partnership with health and locality teams that are developed to improve both breastfeeding initiation and duration rates and safe and responsive bottle feeding

1. Contribute to the process for ensuring that staff are kept up to date & support in maintaining Level 3 UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative accreditation along with providing evidence to support the introduction of family foods.
2. Support with the Pathway to Parenting Programme
3. Support the Infant Feeding Lead to provide and receive information where persuasive, motivational, negotiating, empathetic or reassurance skills are required.
4. Support the Infant Feeding Lead in the planning & delivery of public health activities including initiatives to raise the profile of breastfeeding within the county of Cambridgeshire.
5. Listen appropriately and take into account any sensitive issues. Communicate these to the appropriate persons/agencies ensuring that children are protected and that disclosures are acted upon immediately.
6. Demonstrate, teach & facilitate the management of breastfeeding to the client, support as necessary.
7. Be responsible for own caseload planning.

Decisions and Judgements
1. To understand deviation from normal development and make appropriate referrals.
2. To use knowledge base to deliver advice and support to parents about, nutrition, breastfeeding, and child development/behaviour concerns and accurately record advice and any referrals made.
3. To ensure that any concerns about a parent or child are referred to the named Health Visitor.
4. You will be expected to manage your own workload of delegated tasks and seek support and advice as required.
5. To ensure you have the contact details of a Health Visitor for supervision and support.
6. To undertake any Infant feeding assessments and report to the Health Visitor any identified health needs making onwards referral where appropriate.
7. Respond in line with local safeguarding procedures to protect infants and young people from abuse and neglect.
8. To identify and promote a safe environment in homes and clinics.

You will be exposed to complex and distressing situations, which may need you to prioritise your workload on a daily basis and access support and supervision to do this from a Health visitor or your line manager

Planning and Organisational Skills
1. The post holder will organise and facilitate health promotion groups’ liaising with other disciplines as appropriate.
2. Initiate new health promotion projects to meet local community health needs and national targets in conjunction with other members of the Health Visiting Team.
3. To organise and plan own delegated workload including home visits, group work and clinic attendance
