Sense is looking for Support Workers to join our fantastic Day service in Rotherham offering you an hourly rate of £10.15.
This is the perfect role for a support worker wanting day time hours Monday - Sunday, (8.00am to 7pm) This is a permanent role, with various hours contracts available up to 35 hours per week to suit.
Our Touch Base Centre in Rotherham is a purpose-built centre which is the base for a huge variety of social activities and education-based sessions, it is located within the heart of the local community and is a short walk from the local high street and its public transport network. Across our services we support adults and young people with a wide range of complex needs. This may include learning disabilities, Autism, sensory impairments and complex health needs. We support individuals to access meaningful and enriching activities with a focus on person centred planning and lifelong learning and development.
As a Support Worker you will support and enable people to make choices, to find ways to express themselves and to develop independent living and life skills. In the role you may be supporting individuals to access therapies and activities across our Sense Centres. You will also support people to access activities within the local and wider community e.g. accessing public transport, swimming, ice-skating. Some support maybe provided from people’s home setting. This means that members of our team could be supporting somebody out on a day trip one day and in the allotment the next. Other activities on offer to the people we support in Rotheham include IT, basic literacy and numeracy, gardening, cooking, music activities, communication practice, work placements in local businesses, art activities, sensory environments and to access facilities in the local community.

Willing to attend training as needed to support you in your role.
The role includes transporting people to the centre and to activities in the community, so a driving license and use of your own vehicle is desirable.
Knowledge of multi-sensory impairments / learning difficulties is beneficial.
Knowledge of or qualification in British Sign Language or similar is beneficial (BSL / Makaton etc.).
Flexibility as working times include weekends and evenings until 7pm No two days will be the same
