The People team are currently looking to appoint a People Advisor into the central team. In this role you will have the benefit of working across all our sites, supporting the business partners, our schools and colleges. The advisors will be the first point of call for our employees and will triage work and escalate where required to the People Partners, Talent Team and Payroll.
This is a busy and varied role that requires you to be solutions focused, a key communicator and an organised and accurate administrator with a keen eye for detail. You will be the instrumental in ensuring all area of the people team are well informed and working in harmony.
The People Team work on a hybrid working arrangement, your place or work will be at the Head Office in Cambridge, you will be required to travel on occasion to our other sites, London, Northampton, Canterbury, Bournemouth and Wales.
Role overview
The People Advisor is a key position within the team delivering a professional business service to a designated area and supporting the People Partners across CATS Colleges. Working as part of a proactive, innovative, and responsive People team, you will provide pragmatic, creative and business focussed People solutions and recommendations along with supporting wider business projects. You will also build and develop relationships with managers and staff at all levels to provide support and guidance on a range of HR matters and share best practice across CATS Global Schools.
REPORTS TO
You will be directly responsible to People Partner; the role is based in HQ with a requirement of occasional travel to our Schools in the UK.
**Responsibilities**:
Provision of an efficient, effective and customer focussed service which supports all aspects of an employee’s relationship and engagement with the business including, but not limited to, recruitment, safeguarding, terms and conditions of employment, training, and development activities, ensuring compliance with employment legislation, safeguarding standards, and business policies.
Building effective working relationships with staff at all levels, providing advice and guidance whilst ensuring a good level of understanding of business needs to identify innovative solutions and recommendations.
Effective and timely management of employee relations case work and change management programmes across the wider business such as investigations, hearings, grievances, absence management, performance and restructures ensuring lead managers are supported and policy standards and legislation are adhered to. There will be some travel required to support schools across the UK on an ad hoc basis.
People Advising:
- Provides support, advice and guidance to line managers and employees in relation to HR policies and procedures, employee relation issues and organisational change.
- Promotes employee engagement, analysing the data from engagement surveys and working with the schools to proactively implement actions.
- Champions the completion of good quality annual appraisals and supports any gaps in learning needs.
- Ensures central communication is delivered across their region.
- Delivers and supports the business on a wide range of People projects.
- Oversees and manages People Helpdesk (SYSAID) effectively to deliver query outcomes in a timely manner.
- Train new employees within the People team on systems and processes
- Advising People Partner of high level of absences and managing absences reviews
- Working with Line managers to successful completely new employee's probation periods
- Producing people reports and analysing data, feeding back to the People partners, and working together for solution focused outcomes.
People Operations:
- Uploading employee information onto our People System (iTrent) and liaise with payroll on queries.
- Works with the People Partners to ensure a timely and accurate production of HR administration in support of the schools.
- Monitors absence and supports line managers to ensure effective absence management and completes occupational health referrals where necessary.
- Provide support to People Partners in note taking and administrating hearing arrangements / or attending as the support.
