This is an exciting opportunity to join the Cumbria and Lancashire Installations (industrial regulation) team working with businesses to help them comply with the Environmental Permitting Regulations. You'll ensure permit compliance, make assessments of operator ability to protect the environment, prevent pollution and optimise resources.
You'll be using technical skills to ensure best practice, often dealing with people within industry, local communities and other interested groups. You'll be expected to respond, investigate and undertake enforcement action to a range of environmental incidents.

- The team- You'll join a supportive team of regulators improving compliance using tools such as Environmental Permits, across a range of industrial sectors: landfill, food and drink, hazardous waste, paper and pulp, oil and gas, combustion, metals, COMAH, and chemical manufacture. The work of the team covers Cumbria and Lancashire.
- Experience/skills required
- Experience of an industrial/manufacturing sector (including waste and landfill) is desirable but not essential. You will be given training and mentoring.
- Confident communicator, able to demonstrate influencing skills and success in developing good relations with difficult people and situations.
- Ability to manage multiple demands on time in a prioritised manner to achieve outcomes and deliver against plans.
- Flexibility in approach with a 'can do' attitude.
- Ability to make decisions and help to solve technical problems.
- Knowledge of Health, safety and wellbeing and a positive and proactive approach to it
