Purple Jay Nurseries are a family run nursery with family values. We are passionate about creating bespoke learning opportunities for every child, using teaching methods with a high importance on emotional intelligence

We are currently looking for a Nursery Assistant to join our staff team in our brand new site in Lewisham. You do not need a qualification but be willing to complete at least a minimum level 2 childcare qualification (and our management team will support this). As long as you want to work with children, see them develop, grow and support there learning this role could be for you.

You will need to be enthusiastic and have a positive attitude along with excellent communication skills. The ability to build strong, supportive relationships with children, parents and staff is also vital. You must also be patient, empathetic, caring and friendly.

Qualifications and Skills
- 1+ years of experience with children in a work or home situation (preferred)
- Knowledge of OFSTED standards (preferred)
- Knowledge of the EYFS (preferred)
- Good time management skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding (preferred)
- Knowledge and understanding of equal opportunities / SENCO etc.

Key Responsibilities
- Act as a key person
- Carry out observations, assessments and planning for key children and support the staff team with their key children
- Promote a high standard of quality within the nursery, including practice, environment, and resources to meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage
- To manage and support children’s personal, social, and emotional development, including the promotion of positive behaviour strategies
- Support the transition of children into the nursery and then onto the next room
- Build positive relationships with children, their families, and colleagues
- Work as part of a team
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures
