We are seeking to recruit an Activity Co-ordinator to work within our Occupational therapy team. Cherwell Ward is an Acute admission Older Adult Mental Health inpatient ward, for female patients over 65 within Oxfordshire. We care for female older adults with functional and organic mental illness such as depression, psychosis and dementia.
Our Older adult inpatient units we rated good on the last CQC inspection and Cherwell Ward is accredited by The Royal College of Psychiatrists and are currently undergoing our revalidation for this.
The post holder will work collaboratively in the planning, development and provision of a range of therapeutic, wellbeing and social activities for patients in an Older adult inpatient unit as appropriate to patients need and within the established service guidelines.
It is mandatory for you to complete Management of Violence Aggression Training, Breakaway Training and other training directly related to the job.

**Clinical**:
To use practical and technical skills with inpatients as directed by members of the multi-disciplinary team.
To work with inpatients to improve their mental health, physical health and wellbeing whilst on the ward.
To engage inpatients in recreational activity, appropriate to their individual needs and abilities.
To plan and co-ordinate a programme of activities under the supervision and direction of members of the multi-disciplinary team.
To assist in identifying inpatients strengths and needs in order to plan and implement suitable activity programmes for groups and individual inpatients.
To assist staff in evaluating the effectiveness of activity with inpatients, carers and the multi-disciplinary team.
To record clinical information on inpatients progress notes To participate in clinical meetings as appropriate.
To support ward staff in maintaining safe and supportive observations of service users.
To assist in the Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) where appropriate.
Be aware of and carry out responsibility towards inpatients property and valuables in line with Trust / local policy.
Understand and promote as appropriate the importance of family / carer involvement.
Ensure confidentiality of client information is maintained in line with Trust / local policy.
Communication
Liaise with and share information with other members of the nursing multi-disciplinary team, both verbally and in writing.
Attend and actively participate in ward / team meetings.
Attend case conferences and review meetings as requested.
Ensure own documentation is clear and accurate in content, in line with local / Trust policy.
Seek advice and support from senior staff in relation to specific questions from inpatients or relatives relating to the inpatients condition and treatment.
Maximise opportunities for inpatients to express themselves and be heard, and when appropriate act as the patients advocate.
**Leadership and supervision**:
To review and reflect on own practice and performance through effective use of professional and operational supervision and the PDR process.
To participate in the relevant peer support group.
To contribute to the induction and education of students and staff as delegated by senior staff.
**Personal and Professional Development**:
To undertake continuous personal development with support and guidance from senior staff.
To support practice educators in the training of Occupational Therapy and Nursing students.
To participate in In-Service Training and keep a record of mandatory and other training and development activities.
To incorporate up-to-date techniques and developments into day-to-day practice as agreed with the senior Community Acute Services worker.
**Service Development and Delivery**:
To participate in the Trusts strategic plan. To adopt a flexible approach to the work setting, and with supervision, prioritise clinical and other tasks.
