Activity Coordinator

Vaughan Thomas Ward is an 18 bedded male inpatient ward working with adults who are in an acute period of mental health distress. You will be supported day to day by the experienced and supportive clinical team as well as the ward' Occupational Therapist who will provide advice, guidance and supervision.
The role of activity coordinator is well established and a respected part of how we support an individual’s recovery. The service we offer is exceptional; our teams are highly skilled and extremely passionate about what they do. There are activity coordinators on all of Oxford health’s Adult Inpatient Wards and they meet regularly to share skills and ideas in order to support and learn from each other
Do you have an interest in a range of creative, social and physical activities and a passion to share your knowledge and skills with people? If so you might be just the person we are looking for. As an exciting opportunity has become available for someone with enthusiasm and an ability to be creative to design and deliver social and recreational activities on Vaughan Thomas Ward.
A background in the care sector or previous volunteering may be beneficial but being able to create positive relationships with people and engage proactively in a caring environment are equally important.

- To plan and co-ordinate a programme of care under the supervision and direction of members of the multi-disciplinary team
- To complete group protocols and risk assessments for activity sessions.
- To assist in identifying service user’s strengths and needs in order to plan and implement suitable activity programmes for groups and individual service users.
- To assist staff in evaluating the effectiveness of activity with service users, carers and the multi-disciplinary team
- To record clinical information on service user’s progress with members of the multi-disciplinary team
- To maintain confidentiality at all times
- To participate in clinical meetings as appropriate
- To assist the team in managing violence and aggression by using PEACE techniques where appropriate
