Axon Moore are working with a successful retailer in the search for a technically strong and confident Financial Controller who will help improve & shape their growing finance function; maintaining and implementing financial controls whilst leading anddeveloping the finance team.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Overall responsibility for team management and activity in the transactional finance team, including the treasury team, purchase ledger, sales ledger, payment processing
- Daily cash management and large transactional approvals
- Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded and reconciled
- Oversight for day to day processing of all subsidiary company financial processes
- Maintain and implement financial reporting systems to comply with regulations and legislation
- Work closely with the Financial Reporting Manager to ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner, enabling an efficient monthly reporting cycle
- Examine all financial reports and date closely to check for discrepancies
- Collaborate with auditing partners to ensure proper compliance with all regulations
- Motivate and lead finance team members by clarifying roles and providing feedback, encouragement and coaching
- Responsibility for annual insurance renewals and ongoing insurance policy and vehicle fleet incidents
- Lead projects focused on updates and improvements to accounting systems, including process automation
- Support and participate in cross departmental projects as required
- Build strong trust and relationships with key internal stakeholders
- Ad-hoc analysis to support finance, senior management and the board of directors

Key requirements
- Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) or qualified by experience
- Previous background of working within finance for a retailer
- Excellent people management / leadership skills
- Ability to oversee a team successfully managing big data and a high volume of transactions
- Experienced in creating & maintaining robust financial controls and processes
- Strong excel skills and confident with multiple systems
- Keen eye for efficiencies and strong business improvement skills
- Robust, confident, positive character who can articulate themselves excellently and communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels
