**The Role**
Sheffield Forgemasters is an iconic heavy engineering company which is capable of producing the largest and most technically challenging cast and forged steel components in the world from its manufacturing facilities in Sheffield.
In 2021 the business was acquired by the UK Ministry of Defence which secured its role as a critical supplier to the next generation of UK defence programmes, and is currently embarking upon a substantial recapitalisation project to modernise its plant and equipment over the next 10 years.
Sheffield Forgemasters is currently looking for a Continuous Improvement transactional Practitioner
As a transactional Practitioner, you will work within the Continuous Improvement team, guided by the Head of Continuous Improvement to deliver sustainable improvements in the transaction arm of the business, linked strongly to the vision & strategy for Sheffield Forgemasters.
**The main duties include**:
- Working closely with the business unit heads to deliver the Annual business plan objectives.
- You will drive process and cultural improvements by ensuring existing policies are up to date & newly created policies are adhered to & trained out.
- You will have a strong presence to ensure regular process compliance checks are conducted & additional improvement opportunities & activities are identified, planned & executed in a timely manner.
- You will need to coach and mentor teams as well as the fellow improvement family i.e yellow & green belts.
- This role will need you to be a focused & passionate individual who comes to life in a team environment.- The key to the success of this role is developing the Continuous Improvement & Lean capability within the extended team, so strong people skills & the ability to influence positive outcomes are essential, along with the ability to ensure Health, Safety & Environmental requirements are adhered to.
- Formal Green Belt qualification
- Managing safely qualification
- Subject matter expert in lean & DMAIC tool kit
- Proven track record of transformational & culture changes
- Pro-active nature with a “can do” attitude
- Able to identify projects using own initiative, communicate & roll out with mínimal guidance
- Personable & have the ability to motivate & influence others
- Be able to communicate at all levels of the business
**Days/Hours of Work**:
Office hours equating to 37.5 hrs per week - 07:45 - 16:00 - Flexibility around start times, core hours 09:30 - 14:30.
