Band 6 Respiratory/ICU Physiotherapist
We have an exciting opportunity for a static Band 6 within the Respiratory Therapy Team at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. We are looking for a motivated and dynamic clinician with a passion for respiratory, critical care and early rehabilitation. The team is responsible for the therapy provision to critical care, acute medical and general surgical patients. You will work alongside a band 7 physiotherapists, static 6 and rotational band 6 and supported by a clinical lead therapist. You will be involved in the clinical and operational management of the team.
You should have good general experience gained within an acute NHS trust, including experience of working in critical care and respiratory areas. You will have experience of developing and mentoring more junior staff and students. We are a forward thinking team with lots of service development opportunities, so are seeking an enthusiastic physiotherapist who embraces change in order to deliver high quality patient care.
To work as an autonomous practitioner in providing physiotherapy assessment and treatment to own designated caseload of patients and to maintain up to date physiotherapy records.
To use evidence based principles/current best practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
To consolidate and develop knowledge and skills through participation in CPD, supervision, appraisal, joint working by building on experience and gaining new professional skills and abilities.
To be responsible for the supervision, teaching and support of more junior staff, assistants and students on placement.
To have opportunity to participate in, or lead, a departmental research/audit project.
To lead and manage the physiotherapists in the team in the band 7 absence to oversee the day to day running of the team.
To actively participate in respiratory weekend on call rota’s.
To provide cross-site cover to the Respiratory team if required due to staffing levels

**Clinical**:
To be professionally and legally responsible for all aspects of your work, including the management of patients in your care.
To be able to carry and prioritise your own designated clinical caseload, working as an autonomous practitioner without direct supervision. To monitor caseloads of other staff when deputising for the Band 7 during short periods of leave.
To be able to provide short term cross-site cover to the Respiratory team at West Middlesex hospital if required due to staffing levels and sickness cover.
To undertake proficient physiotherapy assessments in line with department and professional standards, utilising all relevant and available clinical information e.g. ABGs, Chest x-rays in order to form diagnoses, and/or establish impairments and limitations.
To demonstrate highly developed auscultation, dexterity, coordination and palpatory sensory skills for the assessment and manual treatment of patients.
To use problem orientated medical records to aid the clinical reasoning process in the assessment and treatment of all patients.
