This is a 12 month FTC and a brilliant opportunity for someone to learn and develop their career within H&S. There might be an opportunity to extend the contract or go permanent depending on other projects and can be discussed later down the line.

This is a site-based role so you should live within a good commutable distance to Poole, Dorset.

Job Purpose:
To provide direct support to the Health, Safety & Facilities Manager and organise systems and policies to deliver continuous improvement in the performance of the company, while supporting department managers in their team safety management. Providing Health& Safety advice, guidance and training for staff within a manufacturing environment while ensuring compliance with all relevant H&S legislation.

Specific responsibilities:

- Ensure the Safety Management System is applied throughout the company in line with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and other legislation relevant to company processes.
- Maintain compliance to UK Legislation and internal H&S standards and ensure policy documentation is up to date.
- Conduct health and safety inspections and prepare reports for the company’s performance.
- Conduct equipment inspection checks with support of Manufacturing Managers.
- Maintain risk assessment databases with updates where required (e.g. COSHH, General RA, HAV, Noise, and Manual Handling).
- Manage Safety Committee arrangements and engage the workforce in adopting appropriate Health & Safety culture and safe working practices within the company.
- Coordinate specialist monitoring (air sampling, noise monitoring, asbestos etc).
- Assist on annual health checks and liaison with Occupational Health professionals. Manage individual assessments for staff returning to work in conjunction with HR.
- Lead in providing H&S induction presentations to new starters and arrange training where required.
- Assist in maintenance of the building and machinery as well as anticipated long and short-term facility improvements to ensure a safe environment for all staff & visitors.
- Assist in the management of Facilities personnel and cleaning staff.
- Coordinate resources for plant and machinery servicing or repair. Coordinate in-house maintenance tasks with support from the Health, Safety & Facilities Manager
- Ensure security of the buildings by implementing safety/security measures, conducting drills and reviewing as appropriate.
- Manage company vehicle fleet contract administration and servicing.
- Respond to emergency situations or other urgent issues involving the facility in accordance with Emergency Response responsibilities. Review and update policies and instructions on emergency preparedness.
- Investigate workplace accidents or near miss incidents.

- Flexible and open to any change as required by the business.
- Full driving license

Knowledge & Experience:

- Experience in a manufacturing environment, minimum 12 months.
- Preferably experience with ISO (14001, 45001) - not essential.
- Good knowledge of regulatory safety requirements (LOLER, PUWER, COSHH and Fire).

Education & Qualifications:
NEBOSH General Certificate or other recognised H&S accreditation

**Salary**:
c£30k but flexible DOE
