Mobile Plant Operative
PM EMEA - INDUSTRIAL HUB UK
The working pattern is 72 shift, which involves working seven, 12hr days over a two week rotation period with rest periods in between. This is a G1 position that initially will be operating rigid chassis trucks, and will increase to G2 once the relevant competencies have been attained. A requirement of the role is to train and cover other ancillary machinery during periods of absence; cover will be paid at the higher G3 rate, with an early start payment for some shifts.
Job Scope
Western and Central Area pits are responsible for the production of around 0.75 million tonnes of hydrocyclone product (pit processed product). To achieve this the mobile plant fleets extract or handle in the region of 13 million tonnes per year using six main fleets; two large wheeled loader, three large hydraulic excavator, and one smaller hydraulic excavator fleets using a combination of rigid chassis and articulated chassis trucks, plus bulldozers. These, along with a number of items of ancillary equipment, require an annual budget in the region of £22 million to operate (machine, maintain, fuel & operator). Mobile Plant accounts for approximately 45% of the total mining budget and therefore meeting budgetary objectives and continuing to improve our efficiency have a significant impact on our performance as a whole.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Equipment is operated in a safe and efficient manner;- Excavation and tipping areas are worked safely and maintained in good condition, following local site rules;- Trucks are operated safely with speed and driving style adapted to the prevailing road conditions considering friction, visibility, traffic density, road width and slopes;- Equipment is operated at maximum productivity with minimum waiting time;- At the shift start, a safety check is made of the equipment to be operated;- Work closely with the local site supervisors, acting on information received and communicating issues as they arise.
