**Interim Head of Finance**

The Head of Finance will be responsible for the Group accounts and the management and monitoring of all financial activity, including financial analysis as and when required by the CFO.

Ensures the smooth running of the Group's finances by managing income and expenditures, analysing performance against department business plans, keeping detailed records and identifying solutions to problems in financial processes, and coaching, directing,and structuring financial team members and projects for best efficacy.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Management of day to day finance function including back office functions such as accounts payable, credit control and payroll.
- Create long-term finance department strategic plans which align with company's strategic plan and business plan
- Monthly management accounts preparation for all group organisations including preparation and review of reconciliations to an agreed timetable. Where possible look to develop and enhance current reporting processes to give more timely and relevant informationto the CFO/Board.
- Development and monitoring of financial systems and control procedures.
- Manage all financial aspects of the company including cash management and forecasting.
- Oversee business financial management and ascertain areas which need improvement
- Assess the financial risk of any and all business operations, investments, and innovations
- Collaborate with other department heads about budget, commercial opportunity, capital expenditure, investment opportunity and divestments
- Manage the financial team including coaching and developing employees and teams for a more effective skill-set and work environment
- Ensure impeccable and detailed financial records; oversee that taxes and record filing are done correctly and to government standard
- Maintain strong budgetary controls including overseeing monthly variance analysis and departmental reviews
- Regular financial forecast preparation including three-year outlook
- Conduct internal financial audits (where applicable)
- Preparation of VAT returns and liaison with Accountants for preparation of Corporation Tax returns and Payroll team for P11D preparation
- Liaise with stakeholders, providing advice and progress reports
- Communicate with outside entities on behalf of the company e.g. auditors, HMRC, etc.
- Support the implementation of change initiatives identified internally
- Fully understand all internal and external legislation relevant to the role
- Financial reports for Board and SMT meetings

PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, CIPFA or ACCA).
- Proven experience as a head of finance or a similar position
- Experience of working within a financial management role including the review and/or production of monthly management accounts and VAT returns
- Experience of producing and /or reviewing statutory financial statements.
- Knowledge of accounting software (in particular Sage 200)
- Working capital management and cash forecasting experience (knowledge of invoice financing facilities would be helpful)
- Excellent IT skills including advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
- Effective leadership qualities.
- Ability to build strong relationships with outside parties such as Banks, suppliers, customers, auditors, HMRC, etc
- Proven analytical and modelling skills and must be both commercially astute and a confident communicator.
- Able to present at Board and SMT meetings
- Proven ability to manage the delivery of financial Budget/forecasts and challenge underlying assumptions.
