**Job description**:
This is a pivotal role that sits at the centre of the wider DVLA Communications Team and works closely with internal stakeholders from across the agency. We are looking for someone to lead a team who is responsible for developing and delivering internal communications that will drive employee engagement and ensure colleagues understand the Agency’s business, brand and values.
Internal communications play a crucial part in enabling people to see where their roles fit and how they contribute to the wider organisation.
This is an interesting, challenging and varied role which will give you the opportunity to work across multiple programmes of work in collaboration with stakeholders across the Agency. You will work with a range of people at all levels and gain valuable insight into the Agency’s goals and achievements on a variety of topics.
This role includes line management responsibilities and we will support you in developing these skills. We offer a training catalogue and encourage you to make the most of learning opportunities.
Responsibilities include but will not be limited to:
- Leading and managing a team responsible for designing and delivering internal communications strategies, plans and products to promote agency strategy.
- Developing trusted relationships with colleagues of all grades across the agency, providing communications expertise, support and advice.
- Promoting organisational and cultural change strategies that aim to modernise the environment in which we work, being innovative about the way that we do things and helping make DVLA a great place to work.
- Ensure internal communications channels are optimised and develop new channels to drive engagement.

**Additional Information**
Therefore, the expectation is that you will spend a minimum of 60% of your working time based at your principal workplace (DVLA). We would encourage you to discuss the working arrangements for this role with us during the recruitment process.
**Person specification**:
You will have a proven track record in delivering effective communications. You are a natural relationship builder and someone who thrives on the focus of leading a team.
You'll inspire your team and be confident interacting and building relationships with people at all levels. Excellent organisational skills are vital. You will have the ability to operate dynamically in a busy environment and prioritise tasks across multiple programmes of work.
As part of the Communications team, you will be ambitious about what communications can achieve. You'll believe in its power to challenge perceptions and change behaviour.
You will be resilient and confident when dealing with people at all levels. Flexibility and ability to adapt to the changing environment is essential.
