About the Role

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Technical Lead (Electrical & Solar) to join our Technical Compliance team. Acting as the organisation's Nominated Technical Person for all electrical and solar PV activities, you will be the central authority for technical assurance, compliance governance, and quality oversight across our renewable installations portfolio.

With extensive hands-on experience in electrical and solar PV systems, a deep understanding of MCS processes, and a proven track record within a technical or compliance-driven environment, you will ensure that all installations adhere to the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance—including MCS, NAPIT / NICEIC, BS 7671, PAS 2030/2035 and internal QMS frameworks.

This role is instrumental in strengthening technical rigour across the business, driving consistency, reducing non-conformance, and upholding the company's accredited status.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the company's Nominated Technical Person for electrical and solar PV installations
  • Ensure full compliance with MCS requirements, NAPIT/NICEIC certification processes, BS 7671 wiring regulations, PAS 2030/2035 and internal Quality Management Systems
  • Conduct internal audits including MCS installation reviews, electrical testing audits, documentation checks (EIC/MEIC/EICR), and competency assessments
  • Provide expert guidance on electrical system design, complex variations, and compliance matters across operational teams
  • Support Planning, Site and Operations Managers with advanced technical direction
  • Champion a culture of safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement
  • Lead onboarding, induction and capability assessment of new engineers and subcontractors
  • Undertake routine and reactive QA inspections across electrical and solar PV installations
  • Identify non-compliance issues, undertake root cause analysis, and implement corrective action plans
  • Maintain effective communication loops, ensuring lessons learned are shared and acted upon
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for external audits (MCS, NAPIT, NICEIC, PAS)
  • Validate electrical and PV system designs, commissioning evidence, and associated schematics
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of installation guides, technical standards, and internal training materials
  • Liaise with manufacturers to confirm specifications, assess product suitability, and investigate equipment failures
  • Ensure all electrical certifications and compliance records are accurate, complete, and submitted within required timeframes

Required Skills & Attributes

  • Strong technical expertise in electrical installation and solar PV systems
  • Comprehensive understanding of certification and regulatory requirements
  • Exceptional diagnostic, analytical, and problem-solving capability
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Confident communicator able to articulate complex technical information clearly
  • Proficient with digital platforms, CRM systems, and reporting tools

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
  • Inspection & Testing Qualification (2391 or equivalent)
  • Solar PV qualification (Level 3 PV Installation or MCS-aligned training)
  • Battery Storage / EESS qualification (e.g., Level 3 Electrical Energy Storage Systems)
  • Minimum years' experience in electrical installation and solar PV environments
  • Proven experience in compliance, auditing, commissioning, or technical oversight
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of MCS and NAPIT/NICEIC certification processes
