London, United Kingdom Natural History Museum Full time

**About Us**

We are a world-class visitor attraction and leading science research centre. We use the Museum's unique collections and our unrivalled expertise to tackle the biggest challenges facing the world today. We care for more than 80 million objects spanning billions of years and welcome more than five million visitors annually and 16 million visits to our website.

Today the Museum is more relevant and influential than ever. By attracting people from a range of backgrounds to work for us, we can continue to look at the world with fresh eyes and find new ways of doing things.

We employ 900 staff in a variety of roles, all united by our vision of a future where people and planet thrive. We need everyone to have the passion and drive to help us with our mission to create advocates for our planet and inspire millions to care about the natural world.

**Diversity and inclusion matter to us.**

Our vision is of a future where both people and the planet thrive. Diversity is one of our core values and we strive to build a workplace where everyone feels a sense of belonging. All new staff who join us learn about the importance of diversity and inclusion to the Museum and how to contribute to creating an inclusive environment.

We know we have more to do, but we are committed to ensuring that everyone who works at the Museum feels they can thrive and feel valued and respected.

**About the role**

We have an ambitious new Learning Plan focussed on creating advocates for the planet. For greatest impact, we will deliver a dynamic programme of galleries, activities, events and resources. The programme will be delivered onsite, online, and, offsite, centred around pivotal life moments for young people with their schools, teachers, families and communities, serving a wide cross-section of young people.

As a Learning Facilitator, you will be part of a diverse team who engage audiences in an exciting array of high-quality and audience-centred face-to-face and online natural history and science learning experiences with a broad range of Museum visitors, building better futures with nature and science.
Part of the School and Family Learning team, Learning Facilitators make learning accessible, memorable and fun, sparking curiosity, encouraging scientific enquiry, questioning and dialogue. This might be facilitating learning in dedicated hands-on learning spaces, delivering workshops onsite, online and offsite to hosting drop-in specimen handling sessions in the galleries.

Learning Facilitators participate in several Continuing Professional Development programmes to reflect on their practice, engage with Museum science and further their professional understanding of learning theory and practice.

This role includes weekend work on a rota basis, working 1 weekend in 3.

**About you**

You will have excellent presentation skills and the ability to perform entertaining live presentations and engaging activity-based workshops for a range of audiences, both in-person and online. You will bring detailed knowledge of how people learn and the ability to use this knowledge to inspire, enthuse and build rapport with large groups and individuals. You will have a passion and curiosity for the natural world, and enjoy sharing its stories with visitors.
