The Estates, Facilities and Capital Development (EFCD) directorate is looking for an experienced Head of Property to lead our Property team.

Here at Manchester Metropolitan University, we are committed to developing an outstanding teaching and learning experience for our students, whilst also building a research-rich culture to address some of the biggest challenges facing society today. Key to delivering this Agenda is the strategic management of the University property portfolio and the varying demands that it develops, including the annual Estate Management Record and reporting against Estate Strategy key performance indicators.

Balancing strategic leadership with operational delivery, the Directorate oversees all aspects of Estates, Facilities and Capital Development. This includes: new build, refurbishment and building development projects; space management; estates maintenance, security, business continuity, environmental sustainability, and property assets; commercial and retail operations, student residences and facility services.

The Property team is the first port of call for all property related matters the University encounters. The property management element of the team manages the whole University estate as a commercial asset management function.

About the role:

- Reporting to the Director of Estates, Facilities and Capital Development you will be responsible for the managing all property transactions across the University portfolio. It is essential you possess the necessary skills to operate in a complex organisation and can influence a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders through effective communication and engagement. You will have a proven track record of managing property transactions across a large portfolio, including leases/licenses, rent reviews, valuations, non-domestic rates appeals and dilapidations claims.
- You will be the Estates Management Record (EMR) lead contact and submit mandatory and non-mandatory elements of the annual return gathered by the Higher Education Statistics Authority (HESA). Working collaboratively with colleagues in the EFCD team, the Strategic Planning Office and other University departments to co-ordinate collection of the various data, including external assurance where necessary, is adopted to ensure the integrity and quality of the data submitted is of a high standard.
- You will be responsible for the development and implementation of the property management functionality within the Planon building management system, and will support and contribute towards delivery of the Estate Strategy 2017-2027 KPI's, and provide data sets/statistics required.
- You will have an excellent understanding of financial planning to be responsible for the development, delivery and effective management of a circa £3.5m non-pay budget, including the development of expenditure forecasts and financial monitoring systems.
- You will be expected to provide expert advice, support and management to departments across the University in relation to property related issues and enquiries.
- Adept analytical skills and a keen attention to detail is essential, as is the ability to manage external consultant teams and advisors.
