Primary purpose and function of position:
This position is a key resource within logistics to provide clear guidance and support to ensure the department achieves its goals and KPI's.

The role will have a specific focus on several support requirements such as:

- Project management and implementation
- People management support
- WMS system & process support with a high focus on data analysis and KPI focus tracking
- Sustainability and growth of VPO within Logistics
- Implementation of the approved methodology and tools to support means and results
- Benchmarking and continuous improvement approach
- Data & system tracking initiatives

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Main characteristics:

- Analyses technical performance information (KPI’s), challenging the performance of operations and identifying opportunities to improve.
- Undertake ownership for key KPI reporting with the ability to develop database / Excel tracking of data for analysis and usage.
- An ability to search for new improved ways of working, both operational and systematically via WMS or other systems such as Power BI together with the sustained implementation of agreed ways of working whilst seeking efficiency improvers.
- Implements strategic concepts to reduce costs and increase service level according to local/ zone requirements.
- Identify, roll-out and implement best practices based on benchmarking / good practice sharing within the ABI network
- Develops training programs related to Warehouse key personnel; delivers technical training and provides implementation tools (templates, policies instructions etc) to ensure successful implementation of all best practices.
- To ensure the operational requirements and continuity of approach and service from the shift FLM's matches the demand of the Logistics operation.
- Supporting the shift FLM's in tasks with advice and troubleshooting support with a high focus on VPO tools and process.
- To provide a clear focus on People support and planning / manning schedules - with clear accurate data support as per VPO / KPI requirements.
- To ensure full flexibility within the team to meet existing and future business needs
- To develop key individuals within the team to achieve their full potential and to delegate and create opportunities to support the talent pipeline.
- Constantly drive to ensure responsibility and accountability are enforced at all levels within the day-to-day operations of the team.
- To ensure effective communication and co-ordination across a wide geographical department with many stakeholders - UK and European.
- To control contractors and projects within Logistics on site - Opex and Capex.
- Supporting financial awareness & targets.

Accountabilities:

- Promotes and ensures compliance to Safety within the operation.
- Complies to EH&S, quality and HACCP standards.
- Takes responsibility for supporting the department at all levels to sustain and improve performance and to improve understanding, accountability & ownership.
- Acting as an interface to support the Logistics team with Continuous improvement and the use of systematic reporting and controls.
- Attends and supports department meetings with a key focus on KPI data reporting and accuracy.
- To support the delivery of SKAP training plans with appropriate records maintained accordingly.
- Walk the floor - lead by example, positively challenge under-performance, reinforce good behaviours across all areas.
- Celebrate success - work collaboratively to develop appropriate recognition policies for the site.
- Actively seek feedback and monitor progress against plans.
- Ensure staff are motivated and supported to achieve high standards of performance supporting key metrics.
- Ensures cost optimization across all areas of the department and budgetary monitoring.
- Assists with capital projects as required.
- Manages shift rotas, including arranging replacements for absent employees on the next shift.
- Follows up on innovation activities from the team.
- Supports VPO sustainability at all levels across the teams.
- Liaising with internal / external customers to resolve issues and monitoring SLA’s.
- Looking for ways to increase operator utilization & upskilling opportunities.
- Ensures accuracy of material storage and general Assets team support where needed.
- Executes tasks as identified in the role’s checklist.

Key Skills, Knowledge & Competencies:
Education
- Engineering & Logistics technical qualifications
- Minimum A level education
- A degree or further education qualification within Logistics and Engineering or a related discipline would be advantageous

Experience
- A clear understanding of Logistics & IT systems operations
- Experience of managing teams to targets and KPIs
- Experience of dealing with industrial relations issues
- Experience of warehousing in a management role
- Experience in managing & delivering significant changes projects
- Good record of delivering
