We are excited to share that there is a vacancy within Bradford Teaching Hospital Foundation Trust (BTHFT) for a highly skilled Safeguarding Children Practitioner.

Safeguarding children is a valued and integral part of multi-disciplinary working across the Trust. BTHFT has created the opportunity for a full time Children's Safeguarding Practitioner to assist the Specialist Children's Safeguarding Practitioners and the Named Nurse within the trust. The post involves opportunities to contribute to wider practice development and initiatives surrounding children's safeguarding and encouraging 'Think Family'.
Safeguarding is integral to Governance arrangements within BTHFT and we are looking for someone with a commitment to high standards and a belief in delivering reliable and quality service provision in an area of work that is demanding and challenging but rewarding.
Assist the Named Nurse and Safeguarding Specialist Practitioners to be able to provide assurance that BTHFT is meeting it's statutory responsibilities in Safeguarding Children as set out in Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023), The Children Act and the Intercollegiate document (2019)
To work as part of an effective and valued team of safeguarding professionals across BTHFT
To support managers and their teams to ensure there is high quality practice across BTHFT and that safeguarding children issues are recognised, responded to and reported appropriately. This will include screening children and families who access the Emergency Department.
Deliver safeguarding training face to face and virtually
Support the implementation of safeguarding policies and guidelines
Engage in multi-agency safeguarding work
Be organised and comfortable working in a fast paced acute environment.
Be able to demonstrate personal resilience

To have a sound knowledge of safeguarding children legislation and guidance.
To participate in child protection meetings such as case conferences, strategy and professionals meeting as appropriate.
Working with a variety of partner agencies in health as well as the key statutory agencies in the safeguarding process.
Monitoring and participation in the audit of safeguarding cases presenting to the trust
Establish close working relationships with other professionals and have the ability to identify the need for professional challenge and escalation as necessary.
Provide flexibility within the safeguarding children’s team as service demands require.
Deliver safeguarding training across BTHFT at all levels.
