We are currently looking for a Support Worker to join our small team in St Austell and provide support and care to our client, a 27-year-old woman with cerebral palsy, on either a full-time or part-time basis. We currently have a 12 month fixed term contractavailable for this role to cover maternity leave.

**The Role**
As a Support Worker, you will provide support and care for our client, a 27-year-old woman, who has cerebral palsy and complex physical and learning disabilities, at her adapted property in St Austell, Cornwall.
Enabling our client to experience all that life can offer, you will assist her with accessing her local community, participating in cooking and art activities, attending live shows and music, going on holiday and everything in between.
You will support her to undertake her physiotherapy program, attending hydrotherapy and sensory integration and rebound therapy.
Supporting the client and her family, you will provide practical and emotional care, whilst ensuring her safety and physical wellbeing and facilitating her independence.
With a friendly and co-operative personality, our client will communicate with you via facial expressions and augmentative and alternative communication strategies, such as utilising switches and eye gaze.
Your role will involve:

- Treating the client with respect and dignity at all times
- Assisting the client to ensure an adequate level of hygiene is maintained
- Being aware of the client’s vulnerability and taking precautions to protect it
Please note, both part-time and full-time hours are available and shifts will include weekdays, weekends and sleep shifts.
**About You**
To be considered as a Support Worker, you will need:

- An enthusiastic mindset
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to use your own initiative and work as part of a team
- An accuracy-oriented and flexible approach
- A full, valid driving licence
Experience of caring or providing care for clients with physical and communication difficulties would also be favourable, as would a good understanding of the personal and physical needs of a client with physical and cognitive difficulties.
This role is open to female applicants only due to the occupational nature of the role. This post is compliant with Paragraph 1, Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010 relating to Occupational Requirements.
This position requires a fully enhanced disclosure request from the DBS, which the employer will obtain and fund on your behalf. You will also be required to register with the DBS Update Service.
Please note that a 12 month fixed term contract is available to cover maternity leave, as well as permanent full-time and part-time options.
