The Judicial Office is a small organisation (c200 people) which works in support of the Lord Chief Justice and Senior President of Tribunals. More generally, the Judicial Office is a very collegiate place to work and there are opportunities to get involved in a range of things, be it by becoming a member of the Shadow Board, joining the Learning & Development Group or work-shadowing colleagues.

**Summary**:
**Responsibilities,Activities & Duties**:
To provide quality and timely advice to the senior judiciary and the Lord Chancellor in relation to their statutory and non-statutory judicial appointments responsibilities. This will include successful delivery of the JAC recruitment programme, from planning competitions, deployment of JAC recommendations and the appointments being secured.

To lead on advising the senior judiciary and the Lord Chancellor on senior judicial appointments, including Heads of Division, Court of Appeal judges and National Security appointments.

Responsibility for overseeing the recruitment processes for non-JAC appointments, including leadership posts/roles, rule committee appointments, international appointments and National Security appointments.

To lead the team in seeking the necessary senior judicial or ministerial approval (as appropriate) for post appointment matters such as renewals of appointment and sitting in retirement requests.

To provide high quality advice and support to the senior judiciary in relation to judicial recruitment issues in general, and specifically in relation to HMCTS reform and any initiatives relating to judicial diversity and appointments (including senior appointments).

To attend/contribute to the Judicial Workforce Planning Group as and when required.

To provide leadership and management direction to the team of 10 ensuring that the team is working to its greatest potential. Administration of statutory delegated responsibilities on behalf of the Lord Chancellor.

Oversight of the management of the budget for pre-appointments medical checks.

- Knowledge of recruitment processes.
