- Job description 1- This is an exciting opportunity to join a hardworking and high achieving national team to contribute to the protection of fisheries across England. We are looking for a Technical Officer to join the Fish Movements Team within National Monitoring: Fish & Ecology at Brampton.
Gather and report fish movement permitting compliance data and information
- Issuing fish movement permissions; such as permits to introduce and/or keep fish.
- Administering and issuing licences and authorisations for commercial fisheries in England.
- Managing the migratory salmonid rod licence catch returns service process to collate and report associated data.
- Publishing the annual salmonid and fisheries statistics for England and Wales
- Providing fish movements technical advice to internal and external customers.
- The team 1- The Fish Movements Team provide front line fisheries technical and permitting services to internal and external customers across a wide range of fisheries disciplines.
As a small team, we provide a national single point of contact for fisheries customers involved in the fish movement trade and commercial fisheries such as the salmon and sea trout net fishery. We provide excellent technical advice and customer services to fulfil our regulatory obligations and environmental outcomes for fisheries.
- Experience/skills required 1- We’re looking for a highly self-motivated and well organised customer focused individual with excellent attention to detail. An interest in fisheries and knowledge of fish movement regulations is essential. Experience of permitting and regulatory compliance would be beneficial.

You’ll be an excellent communicator, with a strong customer-focus and confidence to engage with different customer groups and communities. The ability to influence and persuade customers on technical matters in a technical and non-technical fashion will be essential.
