This exciting opportunity is to join the Councils Private Sector Housing Team in the role of Technical Support Officer.

You will be positively encouraged to use your own skills and initiative to improve the working methods and practices of the team.

Private Sector Housing aims to ensure that the private rented housing stock in Cornwall is safe for the residents through various forms of advice, assistance and enforcement. We strive to be innovative in our approach to solving problems and are dedicated to continual improvement and development. We are committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.

**About You**

You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as being numerate and accurate, demonstrated by GCSEs grades A - C in Maths and English (or equivalent).

You should be able to work on your own and as part of a team, understanding your individual contribution towards team goals and be passionate about customer service.

The successful applicant will join a high performing team that provides essential support to front line Officers. As such you will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the ever changing public facing environment. You will be personable and a self-motivated team member with a knowledge of how poor housing can have an impact upon the community. A wide knowledge of all Microsoft office packages is essential.

We require a quick learner, who is willing and able to effectively deal with Officers and members of the Public in a positive and informative manner.

You will be able to deal with difficult customers and resolve problems before they escalate. You will have attention to detail and have analytical skills with the ability to interpret information, solve basic problems logically, and make appropriate and timely decisions relating to housing enquiries and understand where cases may need to be escalated. You have a willingness to learn and face challenges positively.
