Iwm Contract Support Officer
Cornwall Council's waste team provides high profile collection, cleansing and disposal services to the residents and visitors of Cornwall. The services that the team provide are delivered through large contracts, are used by all residents and visitors, and are delivered to a consistently high standard.
The IWM Contract Support Officer will be part of a small team which manages the Integrated Waste Management (IWM) Contract. The contract is a high value PFI contract and delivers a range of services, including the provision of Household Waste and Recycling Centres, Material Recycling Facilities, Refuse Transfer Stations, closed landfill sites and a 240,000tpa Energy from Waste facility.
Reporting to the Assistant IWM Contract Team Leader, this role will support the management of Cornwall’s municipal waste treatment and disposal services by monitoring, reviewing and improving processes, systems and practices to ensure the IWM Team performs successfully and optimises efficiencies. The role will have a focus on the development and maintenance of a contract management manual, and the role holder will also be responsible for responding to customer enquiries.
Working within the waste management team (within the Regulatory Services Service), the role holder will actively assist in the delivery of the outcomes of the Environment Growth Strategy and contribute to the development of a culture that delivers continuous improvement and places the needs of individuals, stakeholders and communities at the heart of everything that the Council does.
The post holder will be expected to represent the service and the council to external partners and stakeholders and develop collaborative relationships which can bring about a positive change in the way which we deliver services and wider benefits to local communities.
Fairness and inclusion are at the heart of our vision for Cornwall. In order to best serve our communities, we are striving to achieve a diverse workforce that is inclusive of all backgrounds, cultures and identities; e.g. race, disability, sex, gender, age, religion and sexual orientation. We are an equal opportunities and Disability Confident employer, and we will assess applicants on their merits.
Cornwall Council is committed to safeguarding and following safer recruitment principles to help make sure our staff and volunteers are suitable to work with children, young people and adults at risk. It’s a vital part of creating a safe and positive environment and making a commitment to keeping all service users safe from harm.
Whilst the location/work-base for this role has been specified, our evolving ways of working means that the role may require you to also work remotely (e.g. from home/other locations). We will discuss this with you during the recruitment process.
