**Main role and duties**
- To administer the LA’s scheme for assistance to pupils in relation to free school meals, universal infant free school meals and exceptional need travel grants, ensuring the service is of high quality, efficient and compliant with legislation and local policy.
- Under the guidance of the Operations Manager Admissions, to act as a first point of contact for expert and accurate information, advice and support on all pupil benefit enquiries for parents, pupils, schools and colleagues, referring more complex enquiries to a Senior Manager. Handle all enquiries in a clear, consistent, professional and supportive manner.
- Support the Operations Manager Admissions in developing and maintaining robust service standards and practices that deliver best practice in handling pupil benefit claims that fully complies with statutory frameworks and local policy and maximises the opportunity to attract pupil premium finance for schools.
- To work closely with the Operations Manager Admissions, to maximise opportunities for attracting additional finance to the LA through the provision of a traded pupil benefits service to academies and free schools.
- This position requires the post holder to keep up to date with changes in benefit entitlements and DfE policy
