Our client, Foresters Friendly Society, are based in Southampton, Hampshire and have been providing their members with financial products for over 185 years. They are a friendly (mutual) society, meaning all their profits are distributed between members through policyholders’ bonuses. With over 75,000 members, they have successfully grown the organisation into a well-known and trusted name.
They are now seeking a **Finance Assistant** to join their Finance team and to report into the Assistant Finance Manager. The successful applicant will have responsibility for managing the Purchase Ledger function as well as ensuring a prompt and professional financial service is provided.
**Finance Assistant, **the role (including but not limited to):
- Performing the Purchase Ledger function for the Society
- Processing credit card and staff expenses to the general ledger
- Providing staff expenses report to Payroll Manager for reimbursement via the payroll
- Managing mileage expenditure claims for the tax year
- Preparing reconciliations between Navison ledgers for income and claims
- Overseeing the monthly financial activities of a small semi-dormant subsidiary
- Assisting the Payroll Manager with the Court and Pension Payroll function
- Processing the Pension payroll on a monthly basis
- Completing the monthly reconciliation of incentive vouchers paid to members and other balance sheet reconciliations
- Supporting the Finance team with day-to-day financial activities
- Aiding with month end and year end reporting requirements of the society
- Undertaking other reasonable duties at the request of the Finance Manager
**Finance Assistant, **the person:
- GCSEs including Maths and English at grade 4/C or above or equivalent
- Previous experience in Accounts Payable and processing volumes under strict deadlines
- Payroll knowledge is not essential but an advantage
- Excellent numeracy and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- High attention to detail
- Comfortable using Excel to a basic/intermediate level
- Organised with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Adaptable and responsive to change within the department
