The HPB team at King’s College Hospital have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and hardworking person to join our MDT team. As a HPB MDT coordinator, you will provideessential support to the MDT, through the organisation of meetings and coordination of cancer patients' pathways. This is a role with lots of variety and ad hoc demands and requires excellent time management and planning skills.
You will be responsible for delivering a high-quality service in co-ordination of Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings; tracking patients diagnosed with cancer or suspected of having cancer in order to ensure a timely diagnostic and treatment process within cancer targets. You will also be entering clinical data on cancer patients into both the internal King’s College Hospital system and participate in any external audits as well as actively participate in the process of peer review. The post holder will ensure that all the necessary information is available to enable clinical decisions to be made by the MDT.
As a member of this team, you will enjoy working closely with the consultants, clinical nurse specialists, secretaries, outpatient staff and will be able to use your initiative in order to ensure the smooth running of MDT meetings. You will be working as part of an MDT team covering one or more tumour specialities and you would be expected to provide cover for your colleagues from time to time. Your skills will include excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills, the ability to work as part of a team, to prioritise work and meet deadlines. Information Management
- Processing MDT referrals, both internal and from tertiary trusts
- Book 2WW and MDT appointments
- Escalate potential breaches of the Cancer Waiting Times target
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date information on all systems
MDT Co-ordination
- Ensure all necessary clinical information is available for review at the MDT meeting, liaising with referring trusts if needed
- Co-ordination of the meeting, including alerting members any changes in time, venue or date, and setting up the MDT room
- Produce and circulate the list of patients for review at MDT
- Attend the MDT and live type the discussions and outcomes
- Work closely with the other MDT Coordinators to cross-cover the HPB, HCC & NET MDTs when required
Administrative
- Maintenance of the MDT office, alerting the team leader if more stationary stocks are needed
- Act as a first point of contact for phone calls, dealing with queries with tact and sensitivity and referring on to other staff where appropriate
