An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the Vibrant, Warm and Friendly administration team within the Accident & Emergency Department at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust Hospital.
This is a challenging role working as the first point of contact for patients coming into the A&E department and into the hospital.

Work in rotation with colleagues to provide a high quality administrative and support service to the reception/clinical teams.
- Arrange referrals and appointments into relevant clinic following ED patient attendances as necessary, using the electronic computer system (SystmOne)
- Discharge patient records from SystmOne ensuring all coding is complete and accurate
- Provide admin cover in the main clinical area
- Deal with telephone enquiries from GPs, patients, relatives, members of the public and other organisations
- Deal with face-to-face enquiries from patients and clinical staff within the department

Input timely referrals, appointments onto SystmOne for referrals into Fracture and Ambulatory clinics together with referrals, appointments and outcomes noted for ED Review clinics, Ensure any further follow-on appointments are actioned.
Scrutinise ED records requiring discharging; ensuring all coding is complete and accurate.
Discharge records on SystmOne in an accurate and timely manner, ensuring clinical pathways are followed as per departmental procedures.
Check system on a regular basis to ensure all records can be accounted for; trace any missing records, including retrieval of copies from ward admissions and discharge appropriately.
Liaise with nursing staff, consultants, secretarial and other disciplines regarding issues relating to clinics.
Contact patients and other Health Care providers as necessary regarding referrals and appointments. Arrange transport as required for patients returning home or attending follow up clinic.
Daily scanning and indexing of records, including alert notifications, in line with departmental procedures. Undertake regular maintenance of scanner.
Reception Duties
Cover reception duties as required, including booking in patients, dealing with telephone enquiries and providing cover for breaks.
Assist patients, relatives and colleagues by dealing with telephone and face to face enquiries in a helpful and sensitive manner, following Right Care Values
Provide support to distressed patients and relatives
Monitor activity within waiting rooms, using own judgement to alert nursing staff of any deterioration in patient condition or security for aggressive/abusive patients.
Support colleagues within the urgent care admin areas.
General Duties
Liaise with other departments as required, e.g. Acute Admissions, Wards, Outpatients
Maintain flexible working arrangements in times of sickness and absence of colleagues in order to acilitate the smooth running of the service.
Maintain confidentiality at all times in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
Participate in Major Accident and other administration workshops. Ensure Trust mandatory training requirements are undertaken.
Attend performance reviews, in which training and development needs will be identified and planned.
Any other duties as directed by the Clerical Services Manager/Supervisor.
